(295 x 234 mm), pp.104. 219 black-and-white and 181 colour photographs, some additionally coloured; page edges toned. Plain endpapers. Black and white pictorial boards, title embossed and inset colour photographic reproduction affixed to front cover. Fine.

First edition. Lucas Samaras rose to prominence within the 1960s art scene in New York, taking part in and staging happenings alongside other artists such as Allan Kaprow, Jim Dine, and Claes Oldenburg. Samaras Album contains two autointerviews, an autobiography in three parts, and two series of mostly nude self-portrait polaroid photographs. The images in the second series have been worked on by Samaras with the addition lines and dots in ink directly on to the surface of the photographs.
