First edition. Lucas Samaras rose to prominence within the 1960s art scene in New York, taking part in and staging happenings alongside other artists such as Allan Kaprow, Jim Dine, and Claes Oldenburg. Samaras Album contains two autointerviews, an autobiography in three parts, and two series of mostly nude self-portrait polaroid photographs. The images in the second series have been worked on by Samaras with the addition lines and dots in ink directly on to the surface of the photographs.
